January 22, 2009The title of this blog can be very relevant with the stuff I’m about to talk about. Someone once told me: “You hold at least 80% of your world, the remaining 20% lies in the will of the people around you.” I guess that is true. Considering the fact that we are totally aware of the consequences of what we do, we have an 80% control over these factors. Right.
So?
Simple. The remaining 20% still lingers and the fact is we couldn’t really do anything about it. This may not seem like a big issue, but then again, 20% consitutes a part of the whole. A perfect example would be the relationship of a teacher to his students. It’s established, by teachers time and again, that the students have full control over their own grades and that they are only there to compute for the grades these students give. True? Not quite. We still have to consider that these teachers are the ones putting all these input into these students and the underlying question is what if the teacher isn’t such a good teacher after all? So, there is an 80% hold for students and the remaining 20% for these teachers. If the teacher isn’t very good and fails to input the right stuff into these students, what would be of the students’ futures?
Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not mad at teachers. I’m not mad at anything really.
Just uncomfortable. Uncomfortable due to the fact that 20% should do a lot of damage. Sure, it is still the students’ decision should they want to pass or fail, flunk or be a success, but still… 20%? It goes without saying that no matter how hard we try to ignore it and deny it we are still affected by that 20%. In a little way or in a small way, discriminatley or indiscriminately, we are affected. One way or another. We are connected, so to speak. And maybe that 20% is our connection with others whether good or bad. I had this friend once…
Sabi niya: “Tol, bakit ganun?”
Sabi Ko: “Ano tol?”

“Tungok..”
See? No matter how small di ba, affected pa rin tayo.
Pero, someone told me:
“Di ba you have 80%?”
“Opo”
“God has over 100% control, and if You’re with Him, you have this control, lalo na kung close kayo. So, 100% plus 80%?”
“Uhmmm.. 180%.”
“Oh di ba? 180% control sure beats 80%.”
